I am a begginer in digital communication. Currently, i have my final year project which is dealing with convolutional code. I am using a R-2/3 ,BICM ID system ( and this is fixed not able to change). However, the error floor is occured at BER 5E-4. This happen too early to me. Is there anyone here able to help me on it? Or is there anyone design a BICM-ID system with Rc=2/3 before. By the way, I am using 16 QAM. Really hope someone can help me on it cause I need to submit it as soon as possible.

The problem could be in your error correction software or in the analog hardware. Try making a file that contains the data received by an ideal analog receiver only put different amounts of know errors in it. See if they are corrected properly.

Then on your analog part, send data and see what the raw error rate is. As the SNR improves, the floor you get is caused by implementation losses.

I believe my convolutional code is ok. And I have tested it with your method. It working nice. I think the error floor occur in my design is something like turbo code as well. Any one have experience to solve the problem?
