A bit confused by the thermal noise spectrum: people say thermal noise is white, i.e., it has same amplitude (power) through the whole frequency spectrum. But it's also said that thermal noise has Gaussian distribution. Isn't this a conflict? Thanks for clarifying this issue.
 

Thermal noise can be considered as white within the widest frequency range we are employing nowadays

AWGN is absolutely white in frequency domain, it does NOT conform to Gaussian distribution.

(in Actually case, noise power will not be infinte and thermal noise is no longer white while the frequency continues to increase, which is the infomation I tried to convey to you)
 

Amplitude distribution of thermal noise is Gaussian and its frequency spectrum is white.

yes, the amplitude of thermal noise current conforms to Gaussian distribution coz the summation of multiple random process approaches Gaussian.

for frequency domain discussion, it is absolutely white within the frequency range we are exploiting now.
 

Yes, in frequency domain thermal noise is a white noise, and in power domain, it has gaussian distribution property.
