Curent metering with MCU

Hi friends
I need current sensor schematic.

Re: Curent metering with MCU

You have 2 choices here:
1. Hall sensor (similar to this one: **broken link removed**)
or
2. Simple shunt resistor to convert current into voltage and just measure voltage accross this resistor..

Re: Curent metering with MCU

It depends whether you are trying to measure AC or DC and magnitude of current. For AC you could also use a current transformer in addition to the resistor and hall effect techniques. Keep in mind that you do not get isolation with a resistor. Hall effect devices tend to be inaccurate especially over temperature.

Look at the Allegro current sensors, which are hall effect but are nicley packaged with 0-5V output and several different current ranges
