coaxial feed in HFSS

Could somebody tell me which excitation to use in HFSS, if u want to inject RF energy in a coax cable that feeds a circular patch antenna?

Re: coaxial feed in HFSS

you have to make a wave port and inject the energy between outer and inner coductor. it is very simple, i will look for tutorial. What hfss version do you have?

Re: coaxial feed in HFSS

u can use the HFSS help document!

Re: coaxial feed in HFSS

Hi , HFSS_begineer
for modeling coax feed , u should draw two cylinders and assign the matarial between them , vacuum then define its cross section as a wave port,

I hope it'll be helpful

Re: coaxial feed in HFSS

Hi:

why are you going to feed your antenna with coaxial cable ?
if your antenna is a fixed loop antenna , I suggest you to utilize current feed or voltage feed . because : those are BALANC feeds .
I think it is better .
good luck.

Re: coaxial feed in HFSS

I hope you need t use a lumped port to excite the coaxial line
