Need a atapi interface for parallel port

Hello friends,

I want to install a new operating system on my old notebook. My notebook has only a parallel- and a serial interface. My notebook doesn't have a PCMCIA interface or a network card. Is it posslibe to connect a ATAPI cdrom on the parallel port? Or is it possible to install LINUX over the serial port interface?
