Hi,

Anyone can teach me how to use MC14051 Multiplexer/Demultiplexer??

Now i need to control:
1st i need 15 signal so i have 15 input and output is the addressing 4bit.

2nd After finish the 1st step, use a same IC the 4bit addressing become an input and preview 15 signal input become output.

How i doing to contor the signal if using this IC??

Thanks..

the pin out of that 4051 and data sheet are attached

Hi,

Can you tell me how to control/connect the multiplexing or demultilexing function? Is it we control by the Z (common input/ouput)?
If Z=1 the Y0-Y7 is input and A0-A2 is output.
If Z=0 the Y0-Y7 is output and A0-A2 is input. am i right??

The 4051 IC just only 7bit, if i need control 16bit in 1 IC which IC should i choose?? (DG506A i think it jst the multiplexing only)

Thanks

how about trying cascading both chips...the same type of chips....

Hi
Can let me know which IC??

Thank you

You can use 2 of 4051s, that will give you 16-to-1 or 1-to-16 multiplexer/demultiplexer. You will have to use address inputs A, B and C as well as Inhibit (as address D, connected through negation to IC2). And, you will have to use external gates to mutiplex/demultiplex 2 outputs to 1 and then, in 2nd stage, one input to 2 inputs of both 4051. To accomplish the latter you will need to use the same logic signal as for Inhibit.

Hi,

Can you show me the schematic of connection...?? So that it's more clear...

Thanks...

Fo step 1, use the attached drawing. Keep in mind that 4051 is partially analog circuit so the I0-I15 and Out1/2 sugnals can be from -4,5V to +4.5V. Address lines A, B, C and di are of 0-5V TTL/CMOS levels.
(Summing Opamp at the output is not required, you can connect both pins Out1 and Out2 together..it is just in case you need to feed this signal somewhere else).

For step 2, just feed signal without opamp to both pins Out1 and Out2, and depending on the A, B, C and D address lines you will pick up this signal at one of I0 to I15 lines, this time working as outputs.

Good luck and regards,
IanP

Sorry... Please can you explain your step2 more crealy because i not understand? Is it the 2 output connected together?

16-to-1_4051
If my ABCD = 1001 and my I0=1 then the output is hight
If my ABCD = 1101 and my I3=1 then the output is hight ..... is it??

1-to-16_4051
If my ABCD = 1001 and my Outpu=1 then the I0=>O0=1
If my ABCD = 1101 and my Outpu=1 then the I3=>O3=1 ..... is it??

What is your summing-opamp function??

Thanks....

First, forget about the opamp. If you read my post carefully, I said that in your example it is not required.
Addressing:
ABCD=0000 --->I0
ABCD=0001 --->I1
..
ABCD=1001 --->I9
..
ABCD=1101 --->I13
For example,
ABCD=1101 is the line 13, so this will be the second 4051, 5th input/output.
It is my sincere belief that you have got it now..

IanP
