I want to add a logo of our university into my works. My PCB tool is PADS LAYOUT 2005. In fact, I found some utilities which can convert TIF image into AutoCAD format "DXF". Then I can import this DXF in CAM350. However, I don't know how to move this logo in CAM350.

I also really want to know how can I import logo into PADS LAYOUT. And my logo isn't autocad format.

Thanks in advance.

bmp2asc

Convert to bitmap
Use Bmp2asc.exe You will have to find this pgm.
It should be avaliable at Pcbstandards.com

You will have to play with line width to make it look good.

pads import dxf

In fact, I have downloaded that utility before I posted my question. But I cann't import *.asc produced by it into PADS. I view the file *.asc produced by bmp2asc.exe and by PADS. They are quite different.

It's possible that bmp2asc.exe I downloaded is different from that you mentioned.

bmp to pads converter

Hello,

You can use also BMPinPCB from **broken link removed**.
This tool have bmp converter filters included and it run's under
Windows not DOS.

import logo in pads

BMP2ASC Tool
Why?

This tool is used to import company or regulatory logos, or other graphical elements into the PADs database. These images can then be placed on the silkscreen, or any other layer.

How?

This tool will scan a windows BMP (two color only) file and convert it into a PADs .ASC file format. This file can then be imported into the design database. In scanning the BMP file, a left to right, top to bottom approach is used. Each continuous group of white pixels is translated into a single line segment in the ASC file.

What is the best method to use?

Any two color, black and white BMP file can be converted.
A favorite tool for the graphical work: PaintShop Pro. You can get it from http://www.jasc.com/. This is a useful tool for grabbing images from the screen, converting them to black and white, scaling them to fit and saving them in windows bitmap format.

Once this bit map is saved in 2 color mode, we run the program with the following arguments (assuming the program and the bit map are in the same directory):

BMP2ASC input.bmp output.asc 2 26 0 0

This will scan the data and convert it to horizontal lines 2 mils wide. These lines will be placed on layer 26 (silkscreen top), and the lower left-hand corner of the image will be at 0,0.

Next open up a new PADs file, and import the ASC file. Be sure to set the color and the minimum display width:

Select the complete item, and then combine it. This may take a while for complex images. Once complete, select save to library from the mouse right-click menu.

You can now past it in to existing designs using the paste from library button bar:

Through "Insert New Object " from the Edit menu, we can import any third party files inot the the PCB layout "

pads pcb logo

Hi,

I tried adding my company logo into power logic as bmp file. How come the logo doesn't show when I go print preview or even print?

Is there a better way of doing this?

igo logo .bmp

I can't run the BMP2ASC.exe Start/Accessories/DOS Prompt

The error message,
"Command Promt -bmp2asc avon.bmp avon.asc 2 26 00
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG.NT. The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows Applications. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application"

Anybody know why it does not run?
I have WIN XP SP2

Hi,
There is a software which converts monochrome bmp files to gerber format. Please try it. Hope this also helps you.

import bitmap, powerpcb

Another way is to use Image in Design from **broken link removed**
This tool runs under Windows and have black and white filter included.
You can translate a logo image in 2D Line and Copper !

Good news, Image in Design is now free of charge.
You can donwload it at
