You can use a push button to simulate the door sensor, use the one you have not wired up. You will need a pull up resistor, you can either use a external 10K pull up resistor or enable the internal pull up on Port B. Wiring the processor reset to port RB5 is not what the question meant, wiring the processor reset to RB5 serves no function, you should have a separate reset button.
The reset circuit for the MCLR pin should not be used in a real circuit, a simple 10K pull up resistor is sufficient.
