There are some switch capacitor circuits, for example SC filter, SC samp-hold circuits. How can perform AC analysis for these using spectre and hspice.

In spice, only transient analysis can be performed.I don't find any good files or books about this.
Spectre maybe is good for simulation of SC.You can find some useful files in "www.designers-guide.org"

Re: How can perform AC analysis for switch capacitor circuit

To perform an AC analysis for that kind of circuits use switcap. The other option is to perform a transient impuse response with a spice like simulator and them make an FFT of the result, That will give you the AC response of the circuit. For me the best way is using switcap. Search in the forum for a limited DOS version.

Re: How can perform AC analysis for switch capacitor circuit

First, save op at the time when circuits is steady. then load the op to perform ac analysis

I think that the AC analysis of SC can be performed system-wdie, not circuit-wide.

Re: How can perform AC analysis for switch capacitor circuit

You can use PAC analysis in spctre. That can forform AC simulation for S/C ckts. It seems you cannot perform the same simulation in Hspice

Re: How can perform AC analysis for switch capacitor circuit

Cadence's spectre is enough.

Re: How can perform AC analysis for switch capacitor circuit

I have tried the PAC simulation, but I don't know why it can't be matched
with transient simulation result in terms of frequency response. I use
transient simulation to check the frequency response, and compare it with
the frequency response of z-domain transfer function(with the help of matlab)
The two result are matched. But PAC result is wrong, and not so matched.
Any body know this?

Re: How can perform AC analysis for switch capacitor circuit

The simulation is ac simulation based on variation of operation point which derives from the transient analysis.

To do this analysis, maybe the spectre_RF or Hspice (with RF version) is needed.
