Dear sir,

How would i size the core for Ac Filter inductor For PWM .

I know the Area Product approach is used to size the iron core but , Should i add the harmonic current to the fundamental current .If so till Which order of Harmonic i have to consider generally ????

Best regards
Manoj

AC, PWM??

Are you really using PWM or is it actually phase control? People in this forum often confuse both terms all the time.

Use RMS current values.

Dear sir,

PWM = Pulse Width Modulation Control Ac drives.

Generally 6 Pulse are used and it contain Harmonics . So, my question is wether i have to design for both the currents that is fundamental and harmonic currents .If i design for the fundamental current the core may get saturate while carrying Harmonic currents

Irms = sqrt( I fund^2 + I harm^2)

I fund = Fundamental current
I Harm =Harmonic Current.

Am i proceeding correctly Kindly help me.

Best regards

Dear sir,

Iam talking about the Non-Linear Inductor design .

Hi,

maybe he means: SPWM - Sinusoidal Pulse Width Modulation..
But I don´t know..

In either case one needs a lot of specifications: PWM frequency, sine frequency, voltages, currents ..

Hi,

usually with those inductors one wants:
* to pass fundamental frequency
* to attenuate harmonics

Hello Sir,

You are right .I need to know the Procedure for sizing the core Area for iron core Ac inductors .Generally Area Product approach is used .But, Will be help full if i come to know the exact Procedure.

Best regards
Manoj

Dead Friends ,

I have been struggling to pick the righr core area for more than 6 Months, My calculation and the actual varies, when i check with my local manufacturer .Kindly help me on this topic .

Best regards
Manoj
