Hello all,

I wanted to to have a simple modification in my layout design in Encounter, so I saved a design database in Encounter using "saveDesign AES.dat" (where "AES" is my design name). Then I run "ecoDesign AES.enc.dat AES eco.v" (where "eco.v" is my modified synthesized netlist).

AES.enc.dat is a design restore script file containing this line "restoreDesign AES.enc.dat.dat AES" (where AES.enc.dat.dat is tha database folder containing .conf, .ctstch,..etc)

When I first run the ecoDesign command, I got this error "**ERROR: (SOCSYT-6778): couldn't open "AES.enc.dat/AES.conf": not a directory" , so I instead run this command "ecoDesign AES.enc.dat.dat AES eco.v", which worked but the design was completely changed (it shouldn't as the modification I'm making is to add an output pin with no connection, so layout should stay the same) and there are no FILLER cells (which were already added in old design).

Should I have not modified the ecoDesign command ? or there is something wrong with the design database ?

Thanks

Using the ECO flow is kind of advanced design technique. You are still struggling with really basic concepts. I can bet your restoreDesign command is pointing to the wrong thing, and your eco.v netlist is not "physical", therefore does not contain filler cells, welltaps, etc.
