Can "fingers" on coil former be snapped off to make it lower in height?

We wish to use the EPCOS ETD291610 horizontal coil former for our Flyback SMPS transformer.
It is seen on page 4 of the following…

https://www.mouser.com/ds/2/400/etd_29_16_10-773417.pdf

This former has a height of 25mm above the PCB.
This is too high for us…..we can accept no more than 22mm.

However, the former has some “fingers” which stick down below the former, and it looks like the user is free to snap these off so that the former sits lower on the PCB….do you think this is possible? Also, what do you think is the length of these “fingers”…the diagram on page 4 doesn’t say.

Sorry, also another question here about a different core if i may...................

The Epcos PQ3220 ferrite core is here…

Page 3 of the above appears to show both a horizontal and vertical former drawing beside each other, but they do not provide the height of the horizontal former. Do you know what it is?

You cant cut this spacer on the coil former. It will give the clearance between winding and PCB(Track), if you cut this your winding will touch on the PCB or PCB track it will lead to electrical arcking. The spacer height should be maximum 4mm. You can remove the spacer if there is no track below the transformer(Not remanded).

PQ Coil former should always in vertical not in horizontal. As per your datasheet Maximum height should be 19.1mm above PCB
