edge protocol mobile

Where can I find some information about technical characteristisc of EDGE transfer that is used in mobile communication?
I mean, when I buy a phone that supports EDGE Class 10 (e.g. 3+2, 4+1, 1+1 etc.) what all that means in theory and/or in practice (bandwith, kbps, channels, dependant of traffic channels or not, etc.).
Thanks

May be this book

or find standards from book and scan them

but you wrote "(e.g. 3+2, 4+1, 1+1 etc.)" applies to gprs downlink uplink timeslot allocation .

Class 10 mobile means a 4+2 handset. That is this mobile support max 4 simultaneous time slots ondownlink and max 2 simultaneous time slots on the uplink. But at any given time max. no. of TS that can be handled is 5 ; that means the total TS ( UL TS +DL TS) <=5.
