Hi I am planning to design 5 Volt 1 Amps smps using TNY280PN. Please give me some suggestions, PI software available to design the SMPS. But I want to know the operation of each component and how to select them.

Below is the example circuit which I got from PI and added external wingdings, but I don't know how they selected RC components and common mode chokes. Please help me

Hi,

I'm surprised.
Isn't the 23 pages full of information datasheet not enough?
And the reference to the PI web pages?

Do you think we have other/additional sources of information?

Klaus

Hi KlausST,

I need to justify each and every component with formulas. for that I need support.

Hi,

Please give an example what information you need/expect that is not given in the datasheet.

Klaus

1.How to choose a common mode choke

2.Output snubber calculation (D1,R1,C2)

3. RCD clamping network calculation etc..

This may be the basic question but I need to under stand the design concept.

Hi,

1) which common mode choke? I don't see any.

2) D1 is a standard silicon rectifier diode. 1N4007 is given in the datasheet. No need to calculate anything. 1N4007 is very common, no need to choose any other. If you want to choose any other then look for 1N4007 replacements. If you want to choose it from the values, then look for: I_average, I_peak, U_peak.
2) R2 is given with 1k. No need to choose any other.
2) C2 is given with 22uF/400V. No need to calculate anything.

....

Don't make it more difficult than it is...

Klaus
