usart interrupt probem

USART Interrupt Problem

Hi
I have a problem with USART interrupt.
I connect a Sim900 to USART of an Atmega8.
My program uses the USART interrupt for receiving SMS's and in the while loop of the program I use the getchar function to receive the SMS characters from RX port of the Atmega8.
The program works properly but after some hours the system does not receive any SMS.
It seems that USART interrupt doesn't work any more but other parts of the program is working and no any halt or hang situation occurred.
just USART interrupt does not work.

Seemingly, in the case of communication failure, you're not returning to the Idle status.
Hard to say more without additional details.
