Hi Guys,

I study in a public university and we haven't resources to purchase an EDA license software..

Our researches are focused in Logic and Electrical Synthesis. We are really interested to improve our researches in nanometers technologies..

I'd like to know if is possible to use this Design Kit technology in MAGIC or some license free EDA. I have researching and just found old micrometers technologies to it. :-?

Thanks in advance folks!

FYI, most universities pay zero dollars to have access to cadence/mentor/synopsys. You have to get some professor to do the paperwork, but once set it is pretty easy to maintain.

Magic is not industrial-strength. You can use it to learn or practice, but end of the day you will still need something like virtuoso. So go after it.

Thanks for answer ThisIsNotSam,

are you sure about it? I"m asking because we made a budget and it costs, at least, U$15.000 with taxes to research/student license. :-?

Any of these 3 EDA's would be a great acquire to our researches even to our classes.

thanks again!

depends on which market you are on, and how your relationship with the EDA companies is. Say, if you are in China, forget it. No one will trust you with a million dollar software.
Here at my institution we pay zero dollars. You cannot reach out to the sales department, you need to know someone in charge of university relationship within the EDA vendor. They can help you out.

I had a conversation with the group researches leader and he told that the negociation was made with brazilian Cadence represents and it's the smaller price that we could reach.

BTW it's a brazilian university and we will still working in SPICE level without layout extraction. Maybe in the future we could go forward in ours researches.

Thanks you for clarifying!

Talk to the CI Brasil people, they might have a pathway for you to use their license pool from within the university you are working for.
