i want to design a microstrip patch antenna, the polarization of it can be altered by change the configure of the patch. there are some papers on reconfigurable antennas, the author adopt the square microstrip antenna with truncated corners to obtain different polarization by control the state of diodes. but i want to use the antenna working at another frequency, but i don't know how to adjust the sizes of the patch and truncated corners to achieve the good gain and return loss.
Can some one give me some advices to construct a simple model to optimaze the configure of this kind of antenna? either have there good program to use for me?

thanks

Hi,

You may try to use IE3D with corners as variables, then use its built in optimization routine to get the best design.

if i want to use my own GA program, can IE3D can be embeded in my program?and if i want to optimize more parameters, can i use IE3D built-in optimization routine?

regards

Hi,

well I never tried to use my own optimization routine. However the solver of IE3D accepts command line inputs but requires input structure as .geo format. so you may need to make your program generate the geo file for IE3D which may not be very simple. However the support of IE3D is very good you may ask them about their geo format they might help you with that.
