Is the AHDL the same as VHDL?

Hi
Is the hardware description language introduced by altera which is AHDL is same as VHDL or they are different. I have heard that they are very much similar....is it right ???

In my opinion,
AHDL is something like ABEL, it would not be the standard
VHDL is a IEEE suandard
very different!
 

AHDL and VHDL

a few years ago, i use ahdl to program altera's fpga. but now i use vhdl. vhdl is more powerful, agile and readable than ahdl.
