Hi All
I am building a new safety system project. In that i have to control some digital input and also i have to monitor various analog values(like temperature, fluid level, oil pressure etc). The micro controller i am using is ATmega32. Now i am planning to isolate the analog values from the ADC input of the controller. I tried with PC817 opto coupler. But the problem is that its not linear with the analog input changes.

Can anyone provide a better solution for this...

You can use an ADC converter (for example MCP32xx) in the non isolated side and communicate with it from the isolated microcontroller using SPI lines which are connected using optocouplers to isolate the two sides.

Hi,

transferring analog values with isolation is difficult.
--> It´s like you on the phone ask a person on the other end "How bright is the light in your room?"

Transferring digital values is far better.
--> It´s like you on the phone ask a person on the other end "Is the light switched on in your room?". Digital ON/OFF
--> or you sak: "How many lux is in your room?". If you expect an answer like "456 lux" then the remote person needs a device to transfer LUX into a number = ADC. Digital values, numbers.

thank you Klaus...thanks for sharing your valuable ideas...infact i know that its quite difficult to isolate the analog value to an MCU. But my necessity about the project pursued me to ask a question like this.... Thank you
