Hello

Can anyone explain what is Neuromorpic VLSI design? Is it a good and demanding field to get into right now? And what are the skills one need to expertise to work on this field?

Thanks in advance
BB

any ASIC design that uses neural networks. it is a hot topic in research, but not necessarily the new age of computing yet. IBM's truenorth is the best example of such type of ASIC. there are, however, many accounts of it being utterly useless.

Thanks a lot!.. So getting into research job with this field is not a good idea u think?

In my opinion, doing research in a certain area is purely a matter of passion & interest. You are the best person to decide what you like and don't like!
I would would not change my interest domain just because it isn't currently a hot market topic.

The design of a neuromorphic digital ASIC is not different from any other digital ASIC. Folks actually researching in the field are looking into architecture more than design.

There are good opportunities in academia for research if you want to pursue a phd degree. My group has ~5 phd students working on neuromorphic designs.
