Please tell me is there any need of snubber (RC or RCD) for 40V, 2.5A switching. MOSFET used is IRFZ44N and the switching frequency is 20KHz.
Thanks

Hi,

generally not, as long as you are sure you are within the specification of the MOSFET.

But in reality this is hard to ensure without any protection, because any load inductance or even stray inductance causes high voltage peaks.

--> It depends on the load, on the wiring and on the PCB layout.

Thanks.
And if the snubber connected is not of the required value, what adverse effects it can produce on the performance of the MOSFET?
