12v regulated power supply from 100-440v ac

i need a 12v 500ma regulated dc power supply.my input will vary from 100-440v ac. how can i do this please give any idea
 

dowmload PI Expert from power integrations and it will give solution for you in full...state whether you want isolation or not.

Why the input voltage will vary so wide (100vac - 440vac) ?
Voltages around the world vary that much.

From 100v phase to neutral in Japan to 440v phase to phase maximum in Australia.

Then it can be made easily like...
Input-> Tap selection switch-> Step down transformer (with several taps at primary side)-> Rectifier and filter-> Linear regulator-> Output.
 

Ah !

But "Joe the mug" never reads the instructions before plugging it in, and wonders for a few seconds why things get very bright, and run really fast..... then go *BANG*
 

A "404" on this one
The link was working yesterday, but not today for some reason.

Please note, these are a non isolated dc/dc buck regulator and cannot be used straight off the ac mains supply.
But for less than a dollar are still of very great interest.
