I encounter a trouble: I have a compiled MEM, but my design need a re-spin to modify a pin routing with some minus metal (like M1/via12/M2) inside this MEM. we know MEM is so bigger and so many hierarches.

At first, I did like this: select ALL and flatten this big MEM into 1 level (otherwise I can't touch the M1/M2 which is inside a subcell but it's need to be change for the re-spin.) Such solution is OK for DRC checking after modifying, but failed LVS, because when I flatten ALL, the subcell's pins are also all poped up to the top level; thus, LVS reports so many TEXT_short errors. So I doubt "flatten all" solution is not a good way. So does anyone has some good suggestions on this?

much appreciation for answer!

Find the cell name you need to modify, and modify directly in it

or use another lvs verify tool

Yes, you're right. The right way (but I haven't proven it by followed LVS) is: choose the subcell which is your eaditing target and flatten it to topest level. After this flatten, all metals are to be selectable so you can edit for what you want. But sometimes the hierarchy lable (pin text) will be a problem when do LVS. So I still need to further LVS to prove this method.

But I don;t very clear about your "use another LVS verify tool": what and how to do it? Please attentioned that I must edit some metals.

Did you ever try the "Edit in Place" feature in Virtuoso? (Layout view menu: Design --> Hiearchy --> Edit in Place). In this way, you can down to the subcell you selected for editting, while figures in all the other cells surrounding are not selectable, but all displayed, so you can easily modify your subcells without affecting the routing for other cells. However, it's a bit slow and boring if the subcell you want to modify is under too many hierarchy levels.
