Hello,

Is it true that Electronics companies are now setting up in Northern UK, with the sole intent to steal Staff from similar Electronics companies in the south of UK?
(eg Amscreen etc etc)

The idea is that one chooses a successful electronics company in the south of UK, you then set up an exactly similar company in the North of UK, and then steal all the Engineers from the southern UK company…..it is easy to steal staff from the south to the north of UK, because house prices in the north of UK are well under half the price of houses in the South of UK.

In London (South UK), a small terraced house with no available car parking anywhere near it can easily cost one million pounds.
In Leeds (North UK), you can get a much larger terraced house, with loads oF nearby car parking, for just £60,000.

Even in southern UK locations which are far from London, houses are extremely over highly priced…eg in Bristol a 2 bed flat with no car parking anywhere near it can easily cost £180k……the same accommodation in Leeds, with loads of car parking near it, would cost just £30K-£40K.

How did these lunatic price differences arise, and who will enforce southern house price reduction before the entirety of the UK electronics industry has moved to northern UK?

Well the 3 L's usually define the housing prices around an area.

1. location of good schools
2. location of a good neighborhood
3. location of jobs

So once 1 & 2 start to happen (because of 3 happening) in northern UK then the prices will likely start going through the roof too.

UK Electronics companys moving to North UK..

Hello,
As an addition to a previous post…
https://www.edaboard.com/threads/349962/
…where it was stated that someone could make lots of money in UK by finding a successful Electronic Engineering company in Southern UK, and then set up a “copy-cat” company in the North of UK…..and then steal all the Electronics Engineers from the Southern UK electronics company to work for you…..

..This is possible because by re-locating to the North of UK, these Electronics Engineers would be able to live in a same-size house which costs up to seven times less!
Not only that, but because the North of UK is less overcrowded than the South of UK, in the North of UK you would be able to park your car close to your home & free-of-charge. (-when I lived in Cambridge [south UK] I had to park my car in the local railway station car park [1 mile walk away] at a cost of £33 per week)…..even though I’d payed the fee, if I tried to park my car there between 8am-17:00hrs, then it was NOT possible due to being FULL!).

The attached shows a selection of three two-bed terraced houses in the South of UK (London, Cambridge & Bristol), and one two-bed terraced house in North of UK (Armley, Leeds)…the price differential is as follows…..

Cambridge (South UK) = £385,000
London (South UK) = £350,000
Bristol (South UK) = £165,000
Armley, Leeds (North UK) = £50,000 !!!!!!!!!!!!!(this is typical for North UK)

(details attached)

Does anybody know how long before the entire southern UK electronics industry has moved to Northern UK? I say not long. (If you live in UK, then please forward this post to your MP)

Note that Alan Sugar (a Londoner from south UK) , has set up “Amscreen” in Bolton (North UK)…Sensible man!
