We have a dc power supply and if i connect its positive wire to 12v bulb and the negative wire of bulb to ground (ground which is on AC supply socket on wall) will the bulb glow ??
Can the ground on AC supply socket on wall be used anywhere as ground ??

In my experiment the bulb did't glow. I checked the ground on wall socket with DMM by putting +ve wire of DMM in +ve of socket and -ve wire of DMM in ground of socket, the DMM showed 235 Volts. so i considered the ground of wall socket is working fine. but when i tried to glow the bulb as told above it did't glowed. i am very confused why ?? . i tell you one more thing that if i connects the -ve of bulb to -ve of DC power supply then it starts glowing.

If i get the answer of this question i will ask my main confusion regarding unexpected behaviour of ground with test bench. Thanks in advance.

the ground of AC supply is different (from 12v ground).
therefore no glow of bulb with battery + and ac ground pin.
and bulb glows in 12v and its gnd(-) point.

the term 'ground' is to be used with its own circuit.

Power supplies can be made two ways. The secondary's can be referenced to earth ground or totally isolated, also called floating.

For the record it is against electrical code every ware, to use the building earth ground to power anything. It's sole purpose is to trip the circuit breaker.
