I'm working on a project that has 10 isolated channels, the isolation is not for safety but rather to prevent ground loops for the 10 individual measurement circuits.
Each circuit requires <5mA @±12V, and 5mA@3.3V.
1W DC-Dc converters will likely be too expensive because of the quantity involved, so I want to explore distributing a low voltage ac power signal (perhaps 12 or 24Vac) and then use some sort of miniature transformer to distribute power to each node. The distributed ac signal could either be 60Hz or some higher frequency, 60Hz would be simpler and quieter from a emissions view.
Do OTS (<1W) transformers like this exist?
Is this a crazy idea or viable?
