Hello,
I have designed a rather small rf ciruit and the long sma ground pins are causing problems because they are falling int the circuit and i can't make longer transmition lines as they are causing problems in the simulation. Is it possible to shorten the sma's ground pins to fit my pcb properly or there will be problems?
Thanks in advance

No chance of changing to right-angle if are using straight pins, or two sets of pliers and attempting to bend? Kalamata olives? :)))))

Yeah , i surely can bend the gnd pins, either way that won't affect the operation of my circuit, will it?

Kalamata olives are the best and i have my own production, if i fail as an engineer i will start a career as a farmer :p

Hi, you're a lucky person having your own olive grove! Kalamata are very nice, haven't had any for years, but remember fame is deserved.

Only read a little about RF signals, so I wouldn't put my hand in the fire to guarantee it won't have some effect, but nor do I see why it should, only thing I can think of is radiating outwards at the bend in unwanted direction perhaps - but from a ground pin? Done with care not to damage connector, which obviously you will, guess okay solution, otherwise they wouldn't manufacture right angle version as well as straight.
Maybe member more versed in RF will have a definitive answer, as wouldn't want to mislead with incorrect info.

Not clear what's your problem with the ground pins. There are so many different SMA connectors available, you can use a different form, or modify them according to your needs, as long as the basic connector RF properties are preserved.

the pcb i have designed is very small (about 1cmx1cm) the SMA's i have have ground pins of 4.75 mm in length so a part of them exceeds the ground plain and fall on the transmission lines of my circuit. That's why i need to shorten the ground pins of my connector.

Sure, shorten them as needed. Just make sure there is a good ground connection.

Not understand your question clearly. But you can other SMA connectors, like 90 degree or 180 degree.
As you know ,the ground pins is for fixing action. You can shorten them as you want, but not easy by hand.
Could you please send me some pictures?
