Hi all!

I want my Raspberry pi to access internet as well as to be able to receive and make phone calls. To do so, I have a sim900 shield like this one Itead Studio sim 900 v1.1 . I connect it to my Raspberry using GND and 5V and TX RX from serial port. I followed this tutorial to set up a ppp connection to allow Raspberry to access internet. So far so good. I want to be able to have internet access on my Raspberry Pi but I want to perform some actions if a user makes a phone call to the Raspberry Pi as well. Problem is I used to write som c++/python programs working with the serial port, expecting the AT commands when an incoming phone call arrive and then do something but now with the pppd connection the serial port is blocked. SIM I use is for Data/Voice so shouldn't be a problem to do both. I think I am not asking something that can't be done, as any smartphone this days is both connected to internet and ready to receive/make phone calls.

Thank you very much!

You'll need at least to activate the MUX protocol and have a pppd supporting it.
