Hi,

I need the proteus model for any segmented LCD (1,2,4 or 8 digit(s)).

I would like to interface it with the built in LCD driver module of MSP430. This is a hobby project to fiddle an old product.

I did some google search but I find only alphanumeric display/7 segment simulation related.

Any of your inputs would be helpful friends.

P.S : I refer to this type of display. (image source : google)

Thanks.

Hi Pawan kumar

Have You asked to Labcenter. Creator of Proteus system ??
Visit this link: http://www.labcenter.com/index.cfm

They have a discussion forum here:
http://support.labcenter.co.uk/forums/
Probably you find something good for you.

Moreover: why not looking for these displays, first, in your area ??. .
I recommend you first look which you can buy in your town or across the Web (eBay).
Because if you find a model for Proteus and then no one will sell it.
Nothing will serve you first get the model.

On the other hand.
Why not use the Display VI-402-DP brings the ISIS Proteus ??
But first you should try to get it.
Or you're just going to simulate it ?

I've seen videos on how to create devices for Proteus Ares.
Probably also has to develop functional devices for Proteus ISIS.

Hi MrCarlos,

Of course, I will need a real hardware. Just wanted a simulation model so that it wouldn't be affected from my silly errors (like applying DC across seg and com.) I could see the pdf. seems like a proteus model you've created. If yes, thank you. I will get back to you after checking out the attachment. Although not now, this post motivates me create models in future.

Thanks,
Pawan

Hi MrCarlos,

I did find the library in proteus 7. It's a simulation model of Varitronix V402. Unfortunately, The MSP-430 models included do not have LCD module.

This is just for an update.

Thanks,
Pawan.

Hi Pawan kumar

What do you mean with: The MSP-430 models included Do not have LCD module. ??
I think that kind of display does not need any module to run.

For this Display (Varitronix V402) could use the IC 4055 which is: BCD To 7-Segment Decoder/LCD Driver.

The ISIS Proteus Ver. 7 does not bring multiple devices so you'll need to upgrade to A newer version

Hi MrCarlos,

Thanks for the reply.

The MSP-430 models included Do not have LCD module

Segmented LCD's unlike 7 Segment Display requires AC to drive each digit. Continuous/DC between any COM and SEG pin would ionize and destroy the LCD.

few variants like MSP430F413 have a built in LCD driver, which takes care of providing the AC drive, internally have the Charge pump circuitry and have adjustable refresh rate. All we need to do is to write data to the respective memory location. My problem now is that Proteus does not have simulation model of any MSP430 which contains the LCD feature. I even tried with Proteus ISIS v8.

Hi Pawan kumar

You're right, that type of 7-segment display with LCD technology requires, say, a pulse current to avoid being destroyed.

That's why I recommended you will use the IC CD4055.

But in all that I have simulators do not have that IC only in the ISIS Proteus View 7.8 but not simulatable.; It is just the symbol. To design the PCB.

You can physically build the circuit with the IC or the like.
