Hi,

I have read some where by which we can convert our old cpu in to server. Is this really possible ? well it will be useul for me if u can explain how to convert it ?

it is possible. is it for your own inhouse use / or for outside server use ?
but to do that your old cpu configuration should be known first.

Its to my own in house. My plan is to sync it with my lap and put the load on it.So my run time comes dOWN.

Config is DC945GCNL intel motherboard

1.6Ghz intel dual core

1GB RAM wih extra slot.

What and all you need ??

nginx can do that .
see
https://nginx.org/en/

it is a full fledeg server but can be used for local.

only requirement is that you must be ready for trial and error , as your requirement is not seen commonly.

there are lot of simple packages as server also. but each one requires experimenting and spending time on your side.

Hi sriz,

well , i assumed that you are somewhat familiar with the server terms.

ok , no problem.

see the following:

hope you can watch the movie and undertand it too

What exactly do you want the server to do? If it's just a file repository, look at NAS or just enable networking and sharing on it and remove as many applications as possible. If you are trying to host a web site, FTP or email mailboxes, look at https://www.pablosoftwaresolutions.com/html/products.html If you want a video or media server, look at Serviio.

Otherwise, if you want to run aplications remotely on it, you could consider one of the many Linux based servers. Ubuntu Server is probably easiest to use.

Brian.

what are the steps involved in installing the ubuntu server?
