Power Filter Solution

Hello brothers!

At moment I finish a small project with one +24VDC DC motor. Because of the noise level, my microcontroller was reset many times, then I add a single PI filter for supress noise interferences.

This filter function very nice, but now I start my serial production and need define the core characteristics and the windings.

After some hours in internet I found my local supplier of ferrite core, then I choose one model with the follow characteristics:
Core model: Toroidal
Al = 12000nH

This core are acceptable for my circuit? What the principal gain or losses in relation with the other core with low Al ?

Thanks for Your answers brothers!

Re: Power Filter Solution

Are you sure it is 12000 and not 1200?
What type of materiial it is?

Re: Power Filter Solution

Yes ! The Al are 12000nH see in the manufacture site:

**broken link removed**

The core code are: NT-15/9,5/28-12000-TH50

OBS: The maximum DC motor current are 3A @ 28VDC.

This core are ideal for my application?

Thanks, Gorkin.

Re: Power Filter Solution

From the manufacturer data sheet it look like this core is suitable for your application.
You will need a 2mH (or bigger) inductor for this application so you should easily be able to fit approx. 15 turns on this core ..

Re: Power Filter Solution

Thanks for reply-me brother!

I am not have more information about this core...all information are founded in link above!

How Your found the number of the turns? What physics model for calculate the inductance and the number of turns?

Thanks again, Gorkin!
