oscilloscope tds 1002 serial

Hi,

I am looking for an entery level digital scope

i have found the Tektronic TDS1002 to be very reasonable in price and features.
I have herd it is a bit sloppy and slow, is this true?
can anybody give me some pros and cons?

or any other good digital scops in this price range

thanks for the help

Steve

Hi

I think it's a good scope but, of course, you have to consider your need.
Price is interesting.

Yes it is true that this scope TDS1002 is very slow. In fact while using this scope when interfaced with a PC through the serial port it used to take very long time for displaying of waveform on the PC. and often the PC hangs leaving us no option except of restarting the PC. Remember you have to buy a separate extension module if you want to use the scope with a PC or a LAptop

Here's a good way to search for opinions and discussions on any subject:
**broken link removed**

Search for tds1000 or tds1002

I'm using it with comm. extension module, and have no problems like PC hang-up at all. The program on the PC can make the difference. By the way comm module is too expensive. Apart from that it's a nice practical entry level scope.
