Comparator Sink Current (will this circuit fail?)

U2 is an analog comparator
C7 is ceramic
The comparator switches state at about a 2Hz rate

Links to data sheets attached.

Maximum sink current of U2 is 25mA, this device does not appear to have any short circuit protection

Do you think U2 will fail trying to sink the discharge current from C7?

Hi,

First of all: no, i don't think it will fail, because the max average current is limited by the 100k pullup.

But... for a short time you exceed the "absolute max specifications". If it really fails, you have to blame it on your design.
I recommend to use a current limiting resistor of 150 ohms.
If the delay of 150us is a problem, then use 100nF, 1Mohms, 150R.
