How to determine the capacitor value used in motor drive?

capacitor value determine

Hello all,
In DC motor drive application, there always exists a capacitor bypassing the main power entry which is directly used by driving motor. So how to determine the value of this capacitor and how many factors influence its value?

You can call it a snubber capacitor and its value can be estimated by formulas in the following example:
