Hello,

Basically I am developing a GUI to represent received data on a display. I have successfully implemented everything FPGA related except the input part. Ive been thinking of using SPI but the connector on Altera Board is HSMC and I have not used it before. Is there any USB to HSMC or RS to HSMC converter cards that you might know? I've found this from terasic but its phased out and unavailable.

Will converter cards made for different fpgas still work with my board? Can the voltage specifications of HSMC ports differ from one board to another? If not, the daughter cards made for more recent fpgas may be available, thats why Im asking.

Thanks.

Well if the other HSMC cards adhere to the HSMC Specification, then I'd see no reason why you wouldn't be able to use them.

The only issue may be the location of clock pins not being in optimal locations if the routing to the connector was optimized for a different host board and device.

You should really just download the specifications for any daughter cards you think would do the job and see if there are any issues with the required voltage rails and the I/O standards that are available on the host board driving that HSMC. Try downloading the specification of this board. https://www.m-pression.com/solutions/boards/usb3.0sv
