Hi,

I need to find the diff between two .brd files (list of components).

Regards,
Meir

There are multiple ways to do this, the most simple (or hard, depending on how big the board is), open Tools - Reports - Bill of Materials. Save it to a text file.

Do the same for the other board you wish to compare to.

Open both text files side by side, visually compare, line by line.

Do this also for the netlist.

If you can have a spreadsheet program such as Excel, you can import the text into the spreadsheet and create a truth table to compare sets of cells to generate TRUE or FALSE for cells you wish to compare (I had to do this years ago at a previous employer - it worked like a champ once it was set up properly).

Good luck!

Hi gabba hey,

but how to compare footprints on this method, only component counts, netlist & placement only will confirm on above method..

Board outline, silk, mask & paste,.... are also not checked as per the above reports

pls suggest if any other method is found?? we want to thank u for this..

regards,
karthik

Hi,

If you want to compare footprints, board outline, mask& paste of old and new board files. I suggest you to do these by comparing gerber film of desire layers by importing both of them into one blank board.

Hope this help!
