how to connect 8251 ?

hi,

i wanted to connect 8086 with 8251 usart. how do i connect the DTR and DSR pins from 8251?

This should help you out.

Specifically, DTR and DSR are part of the RS232 interface, they are for handshaking with another device connected through the serial interface. They do not connect to the host processor. Normally they would be converted to/from V24 levels in the same way as the TXD and RXD signals.

DSR = Data Set Ready. DTR = Data Terminal Ready.
