Looking for an example of how to transfer data from a micro-controller to an Xbee

[MOVED] Look for a example of a using an microcontroller's usart to talk an Xbee

I am using a PIC16F1827 microcontroller. I have written a c program that reads 2 sensors and saves the data. On the same breadboard I have an XBee Pro Digimesh adapter.
I have the xbee wired to the tx and rx pins of the Pic. I am wondering if anyone has an example of how to transmit some data to the xbee. I want to use API to do the transmitting and receiving. I currently have the PIC programed to 9600 baud.

Any help is greatly appreciated.
