Hi,
I use a Dos based program and it get information, input via parallel port.
Now the problem is that it has become very dificult to get Laptops with parallel port.
My question is:
Is there a way it could replicate the parallel port signal by usb using some kind of board(ft245????)??

I'm a noob but i really need help......

Are you looking for emulator software to "turn" an USB port into a parallel port [for the sake of your DOS program]

I don't see how an external board would help............

that's cool but
I think the OP's problem is that he wants to use a PC [laptop] that does not have a // port
but his software reads the // port.

if I am not mistaken the FT245R is a USB to parallel FIFO interface chip.

HDman's description of requirements is a vauge but I read it that he has a DOS program which reads data from a parallel port and now needs to read the data using a modern laptop (with Windows 7 or similar?)

there are boards which use the FT254R, e.g.
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/FT2...odule-Kit-USB-TO-Parallel-FIFO/537642095.html

I assume the driver enables a program on the PC to read/write from/to the FIFO parallel port via USB (using C++, C#, VB, etc??)

I guess we need more details of the application?
