Hey guys I just Finished designing a 96x8 dot matrix using Pic microcontroller and shift register using power supply from 7805 as regulator for both, the brightness is very low, my question can I drive my microcontroller and shift register directly from my SMPS of 5v 3A.

hello,

When you power up both PIC and display, is your 5V OK ( voltage value keep normal).
If yes, it is not a probleme of max current value possible by the power source (3A instead of 1A capability)
but a probleme of timing exposure to light up the led, and also if timing is very short, you must increase the curent
value passing trough the led ..(reduce resistor in serial with led)..

show your schematic and code wich drive the leds.
