long range rfid schematic

Hi i looking for project , ideas for long range passive rfid 125 khz - long range = about 100 cm.
I want to read word tag unique with manchester encoding.
any ideas ?
i found some information on internet - i buy oem reader but all time range is too small

long range 125khz

For that kind of range, you would be much better off using 900 MHz RFID. A design example I have frequently described is in the attached powerpoint pdf. Note the broad band dipole design is one that I think is new and unusual. The presentation is centered around Sonnet, but most any planar EM tool can be used. Because it is planar with very little metal, a volume meshing tool should definately not be used for this problem. You should be able to get several meters range for 900 MHz RFID. The reason the range is so much higher is that you can actually fit a 900 MHz half wave dipole on the tag. This is a real antenna and you get real radiation. At 125 kHz, all you have is a resonant LC circuit. It talks to the reader by inductive coupling, like between the two coils in a transformer. There is no radiation, thus much shorter range.

i have a few question: 900 MHZ rfid it's only a active tag or also passive ? (most important for me is passiwe tag)
time of reaction - i must have very fast time of reaction
collision - it would be the best if this transponders it would work without collison.
and ofcourse price is also very important.

rfid smallest long range

Hi Robert -- Passive or active, yes it is fast, they can handle a lot of collisions, and they hope to get the cost down to US$0.10 per tag, but more likely US$0.25 per tag. My company (Sonnet) has many customers in Japan using our software to desgin these tags and readers. This area is really hot, although there is some problem right now with intellectual property (patent) ownership on some items. Should be settled sometime this year. simple long-range rfid 125khz

Hi, Just wanted to elaborate something .

100 cm range can also be achieved by 13.56 Mhz range RFID system ,with proper design.

Working with UHF is good and more efficient but has several problems too like interference,multiple fading, penentration etc...(Check out www.aimsglobal.com ) However 13.56 is easier ,effective and cheaper.

Also ,most of the work is being carried out at this frequiency in commercial domain.
UHF has been a favourite for defence peoples.

There is a very good design guide available at www.microchip.com for RFID 13.56 as well as 900Mhz RFID systems.

one project - many solutions :)
i building sports timing system for my friends - they ride a mountain bike.

my idea :

i want to measure time between the start and the finish points. Each biker has a unique chip which is registered on the start and on the finish. Computer system measures this time for each biker.

solutions:
125 khz -
whats bad: small range, slow time o reaction, problem with antena design (i dont like low freq) prolem with collision
whats good: small size of transponders, cheap readers and transponders

(but i found profesionall solution sports timing system- they working at 134 khz frm TI)

896 MHz -
whats bad: hmm ... availability tags and reader (i am form Poland), size of transponders (or special antenna design)
whats good: good range, antycollision, fast time of reaction,

(all tags must be passive)

(sorry for my english)

125khz lc circuit

I design rfid tag work on 13.56M, so this topic is usefull for me.

Attached is a file with the basis for antenna design for 125kHz RFID tags.
I am searching for a long range circuit.
In the EM MICROELECTRONICS P4095 there is a circuit for RFID read, but is shor range.
I am seaching a long range circuit that can be or not based in a commercial IC.

Hi guys,

Here I send you some interesting 125Khz and 13.56Mhz reader circuits.
I´ve tested Melexis one, and works fine. There`s a power booster schematic for 13.56Mhz attached, too.

rfid reader 869 mhz project

hi, i am new here. i am a college student from the philippines and im currently workin for my final design project.
My project is an automatic library system wherein borrowing ang returning of books will be automatic with the use of RFID. Can somebody tell me where to buy long range and passive rfid tags and readers? Our school ID is an rfid but it needs to be close to the scanner for it to be detected. Is it possible to design my own long range rfid scanner and still using the transponder used by our school id?
