I need to use 8/16 bit buffer ic to drive large number of LEDs using micro-controller.
Each channel should be capable of sourcing 3 amps and the inputs should be TTL compatible to connect to the uC.

If the output voltage can be variable , i can easily control the intensity of the leds.

Is there is any IC having the mentioned features or suggest me any other better methods.

hello,

i think you will not find out, direct IC to drive 3 amps at output.
did you allready see Microchip MCP23017 .. drive up to 2x8 = 16 outputs dialogue in I2C.

after you need to add 1 MOSFET driver as IRLZ14 (gate input at TTL level) for each output
to be able to drive 3 Amps...at the desired voltage (12,24..or more Volts)

Maybe specialized IC exist .. after is a global cost problem..

Thanks for the reply.....
Actually i want to drive 15 rows consisting of 90-180 LEDs , that's why I am searching for high current solutions.
If i use one MOSFET for each row line , i have to use 15 MOSFETs , That will make my pcb big and also the cost will be a problem. Can you suggest any solution?
