Hi All.

I want to use isolated UART Communication between two host. My internal host's TTL Level is 3v3 and I want external level 5v with isolation. Can be optical isolation or other.

Can anyone advise me a suitable chip?

Thanks. Looking forward your suggestion.

Regards.

u can use optocoupler for this kind of solution. based on the level translation.

Hi.

Thanks for suggestion.

All the Chips are very big is size. I have some room limitation in PCB. Is there any other SMD chips with less dimension. Also FODM8061, 6N136 & TCMT1100 can work with 115200 Baud?

Regards.

According to datasheet, FODM8061 and 6N136 should work well at 115200 baud rate. But ordinary phototransistor based opto-couplers like TCMT1100, TLP521, PC817 etc. may not work at this baud rate. Phototransistors have higher collector-base junction capacitance which prevents high speed switching due to miller effect.

You also can use TXB0108 level translator from TI.

since these chips contain ir led and a photo transistor, and all communication isolated by light, they are in big size. there is no other way. you have to take this into consideration while designing your circuit.
