    Can I use +/- 5V for LM741?

im using LM741 as a buffer to my phototransistor.
may i know whether i can use +5V and -5V as my V+ and V-?? im not sure about this coz referring to data sheet, the supply voltage would be +/-22V. so if i just use +/- 5V, whether the LM741 can work?

    anyone have any idea?

    lm741 buffer

+/-5V is pretty close to the 741 limits but you can still use it there.
Should the voltage be below this level I would use 358 opamp ..

    tl084 unipolar supply

    Hi,
I don't want to be a wise guy, but if you have some time you can solve your question as an excersise by checking the schematic of the LM741. In Sedra/Smith there is a full presentation of this.

    lm741

Can you use any other modern opamp other than historic 741 to be a more precise buffer or use a buffer IC instead?

    using tl084 unipolar

    Hi,
If You Have Problem with LM741 Bipolar Supply Try this OpAmp IC TL084
it needs Unipolar Supply (GND & VCC) No Extra Pin for Offset Adjusting
And By Using One IC You will get 4 Same Opamps in it its also Cheap. I think it is better Solution.

    lm741 with 5 volt supply

You may also use LM378 four op-amps in one IC if your design requires more than
    one op-amps. A cheaper solution :)

Or LM358 dual or LM324 quad op-amps which are some of the cheapest and most common dual and quad op-apms.

the lm324 is better than the lm741

    To soohino
741 works at +5,-5V but question is how much voltage sving you need at OPA output.
