Hello,i am doing a research to find a suitable ic that can tell the speed of an object in motion say that of a vehicle or a running man.

Links to such an ic would be wonderful.

Thanks.

Before searching for an IC you would decide for a measurement method, I think.

Promising candidates are microwave doppler radar, laser time-of-flight, simple light barrier.

What method is normally in car tracking devices?.The devices are pretty small you know.

Do you mean laser speed trap guns? Tracking devices?, do you mean "Tracker", a vehicle tracking system that uses a GPS receiver within the car to locate its position and then radios this back to the Police? Any speed indications would be calculated from the vehicles GPS position.

Yes,i mean the gps tracking device used in motor vehicles. That is really fascinating,i mean using gps position to calculate the speed,i thought they employed some pretty clever hall effect transistors/chips to do that kind of thing.
