Hi i have question about tcl in design compiler.

set SYNVER [getenv SYNVER]

Does anyone explain to me above command?
What is this [ ] and what this have meaning at all?
thanks

getenv SYNVER is for getting environment variable. above mentioned command will set SYNVER to the environment variable SYNVER.

The [] means to execute the command inside the brackets (getenv), and return the result for use in the next command (set).

set SYNVER $env(SYNVER), should give the same result.
