Hi,

I have a strange connectivity issue. I'm using a TL-WR1043ND router with a pppoE link and 12 wireless devices connected. I have enabled the MAC-Filtering and all these 12 devices are allowed to connect to the network.

Now the problem is, I am having hard time connecting my laptop to this network. My laptop's MAC is allowed to connect. My laptop when connecting to the wireless network gives an error "windows was unable to connect to ssid". After 10 or 15 min, it gets connected. Only once in about 25 times my laptop connects to the network at the first attempt. Other times I'll have to wait for sometime or constantly try connecting to the network again and again.

I do not have this problem in my laptop with any other network (I tried connecting with at least 5 other network). and there is no problem in the router with the other 11 devices. So I don't know whether this is a router problem or laptop problem.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you.

HI,
First, u can check your computer's wireless LAN drivers if it's need to be reinstalled. Second, checking when you connect wireless, IP address, acquired via wireless card whether in same segment with the router, and finally you can manually set a static IP. Fill in the IP address of the DNS settings of your router.

I already tried re-installing the drivers. Same problem. The strange thing is that, this is happening with only one (same) router. As I mentioned already - I do not have this problem in my laptop with any other router. and there is no problem in the router with the other devices.

As my WiFi is not connected, I will not get any IP assigned to the wireless card. I even tried setting up a static IP, but no use.

Although this problem only lasts for 10-15 min, not knowing the reason is a big frustration.

There are no problems with the wired connection.
it may be worth having a look at the OpenWrt page
https://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/tp-link/tl-wr1043nd

I'll look into that page. Thank You.

Edit:

I also did a hard reset to the router. But it made no difference.
