shorting smps 24v ground to earth ground

i am using 24 smps supply, the out put of the smps is +24v and ground, the voltage is measured across these two terminals. my dough is that can i short the smps output ground to earth ground. in my project i am using metal box inside that i have kept micro controller circuit, to prevent emi i am shelding the metal box by connecting the output ground of the smps, at the same time i am grounding the metal box with earth ground to prevent from shock.

Technically 0 volt of smps and earthing of power must not short.
 

Yea u can.....in fact it is already short with earthing terminal of smps u can check it using meter......take care not to connect this 0V supply with neutral of 220V mains....... u must take care of it
