mcu car security

hi. I'm doing a college project on car security via SMS. Have a gr8 prolem though. want to knw the best method to interface a cell-phone with the microcontroller.
i want to give the cell phone a mcu o/p signal (generated when there is an intrusion) so tht it sends an SMS to the required no.
have 2 options:
nokia cell-phone with a PIC
Nokia 12

which is a better choice and will be easier to program and implement?
nebody with a similar proj pls help.
hav only a few weeks.

regards

car security using a cell phone

I had interface in the past Ericsson phone & worked gr8. I had tested T65, T630, T68i and R320, all performed fine. The connection cable was the ericsson serial cable or any simillar one.

All SMS messages are initiated via AT commands. The only problem is that Ericsson supports only PDU and not text mode.
Personally I suggest SonyEricsson.

mcu and nokia cell phone

I'm a newbie in electronics... I'm interested in doing such a project... Could someone explain me a little more clearly on how to go about this project please? Also, if possible please let me know what the PIC and mcu mean... I would be grateful if someone could just give a block diagram on how to do this project...

security of car using a cell phone

if possible please let me know what the PIC and mcu mean...
PIC is an MCU from microchip, more info at https://www.microchip.com
MCU=Micro contrloler unit. Achip with CPU,RAM, ROM & I/O intergraded on a single IC.

As far as this project is conserned, you need a lot of reading and effort to do it. You must learn programming of PIC and then how to communicate with the Mobile phone.

cell phone interface car security

Does anyone know how I can get hold of a kit like this off the shelf? Is there a company that will supply a mobile phone, sms, pic/mcu board with software?

mcu to cell

Im also working on a similar project. But im still not clear about which mobile to use. Im working on Nokia 3310 FBus currently. I even got the complete source code for nokia 5110/6110 fbus protocol in C frm a link suggested in this board. But from what i read on the forums, Mobiles with built in modems suporting AT Commands are better option for mcu.
With this in view i bot an old siemens C35 phone. I`m not sure if its working or not. I tried to interface it with PC using a siemens sw. It does not seem to connect. can anyone pls help me on this.
tnx
