xyce circuit simulator vs ngspice circuit simulator

I had used NG-spice for circuit simulation for a while but it get convergence or "Gmin step too small" error easily.

After google search for a while, i found Xcye simulator. It is opensource as NGSPICE but look more powerful. Is there anyone use xyce before ? Is Xyce really no "Gmin step too small" error ?
 

I don't believe that you'll find a circuit simulator which completely avoids convergence errors with problematic device models or circuits.

Compared to the original SPICE program, many simulators have optional "alternative" solvers or try to adjust solver parameters automatically if convergence problems occur. But it many cases, it's better to adjust parameters manually or e.g. bypass floating circuit nodes that cause problems with a resistor.
 

These kinds of convergence problems come more from circuit
topology and model numerical issues (like params zeroed, which
should be realistic) than simulator problems. Though various
simulators have tried to make various improvements in how
the convergence works, fallbacks and so on, you can't really
know until you throw -your- problem circuit at it.

If you dug deeper you might find there are control variables
that can allow more Gmin solution iterations, improve the
timestep control (and solution method matters a lot, the
default is often the dumbest choice) and fix the problems
without changing horses.
 
then, which one is better simulator running on desktop, ngspice or xyce?
